Study in the USA: a guide for international students
The USA has thousands of accredited universities and colleges, with flexible degrees that let you explore subjects before choosing a major. EduQuantica helps you shortlist US universities that match your grades and budget, prepare your application and get ready for your F-1 visa interview.
Why study in the USA?
American universities are known for research, campus life and flexible programmes, from four-year bachelor's degrees to specialist master's and doctoral study. Many courses combine classroom learning with internships and practical projects.
Partner universities in the USA
We work with US universities including George Mason University, Texas State University, Saint Louis University and the University of Arizona. The full list of our US partners is below.
Entry requirements
Undergraduate applications look at your school results and, at some universities, SAT or ACT scores, though many are now test-optional. Postgraduate courses look at your bachelor's degree, and some ask for the GRE or GMAT. Most universities accept English tests such as TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo — we check each university's policy for you.
Intakes
The main intake is Fall (August–September), with a Spring intake in January at many universities and a smaller Summer intake at some. Start your application around a year ahead for the widest choice and the best scholarship chances.
Cost of studying in the USA
Tuition varies widely between public and private universities and between states, and living costs depend on the city. Your I-20 shows the estimated cost of your first year, which is also the amount you will need to show for your visa.
Scholarships in the USA
Many US universities offer merit scholarships to international students, often decided with your admission. We look for every scholarship your profile qualifies for and help you meet the deadlines.
US student visa (F-1)
Most full-time international students study on an F-1 visa. The usual steps are:
- Receive your Form I-20 from a SEVP-certified university after you accept your offer
- Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee
- Complete the DS-160 online visa application and pay the visa application fee
- Attend a visa interview at a US embassy or consulate with your I-20, passport and financial documents
Check the current fees and steps on the U.S. Department of State and Study in the States websites before you apply. Optional Practical Training (OPT) can let eligible F-1 graduates gain work experience in their field — confirm the current rules with your university.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need SAT scores to study in the USA?
Not always. Many US universities are test-optional, while others still ask for the SAT or ACT. We check the policy of every university on your shortlist.
What is an I-20?
The I-20 is the form a SEVP-certified university issues once you accept its offer. You need it to pay the SEVIS fee, apply for your F-1 visa and enter the USA.
Is EduQuantica's help with US applications free?
No. Our UK services are free, but applications to the USA carry a fee that depends on the services you need. Speak to our team for pricing.
